Our Story
Red Moon Interactive is a user experience design and interactive marketing consultancy that partners with talented resources to provide a complete range of user-centered design consulting services to large and mid-sized companies along with services designed to help small companies and start-ups. We help you understand your customers, increase usability, enhance the user experience and drive optimization and return on investment through user-centered design activities.
Meet the Team
Red Moon Interactive was officially launched by Ken Ohnemus in March 2009 but we have been providing user experience and usability consulting services for over 20 years.
We have deep experience and are extremely passionate about delivering solutions that simplify complex processes, engage users and solve business issues.
Ken Ohnemus
Founder & Principal
Originally intending to study engineering, combined with a fascination with making complex things as simple as possible and an interest in aviation, Ken entered the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and discovered a program in Engineering Psychology. His first course in this area dealt with human-machine interactions and looked at how and where the communication between people and machines break down resulting in potentially dangerous situations such as the three-mile island accident or pilot errors. Ken was immediately hooked and has been creating solutions that place the user at the center of focus.
He has extensive experience developing usability strategies and designing web sites and applications that both meet client's business requirements and increase the efficiency and user experience of their customers. Ken also has considerable SharePoint UX design experience creating both internal and public facing solution. He also has mobile device experience.
His expertise spans the entire design process, including requirements gathering, user needs and task analysis, user profiling, personas, use case generation, information architecture, conceptual design, interaction design, and usability testing. Ken has planned and executed numerous research and usability studies and developed ongoing research programs for many clients. As a results focused, ambitious, problem solver he has performed as an instructional designer and trainer, business analyst, team leader, and in organizational change and project management roles. Ken also has managerial experience that includes responsibilities for employee growth and development, mentoring and performance reviews.
Ken holds a master’s degree from the University of Dayton in Human Factors/Applied Experimental Psychology and bachelor's degree in Engineering Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Ken is also active in numerous professional societies and regularly publishes articles and presents at conferences. Ken is the current Computer System Technical Chair for the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.
